This experience is an extreme adventure that includes horses, incredibly skilled gauchos, history, and pioneering blood. It is a program full of tradition passed down from generation to generation requiring courage and skill. This is all done which in the mythical land of Patagonia, in virgin and rugged landscapes.

 

Itinerary

Day 1: Estancia (country property) Mercedes – Chilean Patagonia

Meeting with visitors at your hotel and transfer to the room consisting of a sailing barge or boat on weekends, 1 km away (about 7 minutes) and then travel by car 35 km. We will take the Highway Austral up to the room. The family owner of the estancia will receive the visitors in the main house. Country welcome breakfast. A technical talk on biosecurity and tourist familiarization with horses will be given, as well as more technical information on hiking in rough environments and how to use the tie with tame animals.
We will eat lunch. We will stock up on food and tools, and prepare sleeping arrangements.
We will have shared tea time and dinner. Accommodations in the room with shared bathroom and heating.

Days 2 - 5: Bagualeo

We will eat a country breakfast at 7:00 am. Later we will saddle the horses and load the packhorses to leave the first camp or ranch after 3-4 hours of travel.
Along the way you may be able to find animals that we will try to catch. Arriving at the ranch we will eat something light. In the meantime, the chef will set up the camp and the lunch while we go out to track more animals. Back at camp we will eat a delicious lunch of lamb or beef plus salad, bread, and wine or soft-drinks. Depending on the number of animals that are available, we will either camp in the same place or we will move to another ranch to track more animals. We will have tea time and / or dinner.
The accommodations will be in a tent outdoors. Over the next days, the visitors can participate and practice techniques learned. We will take the animals we trap to the Estancia and evaluate the possibility to cook and eat them there.

Day 6: Return to Estancia Mercedes

Country breakfast at 7:00 am. We will then pack up camp, saddle the horses, and load the packhorses to return to the ranch with the animals. Upon arriving at the Estancia we will be greeted with a delicious lunch or dinner, depending on the time of arrival. Here you can lay back and enjoy and relax by telling anecdotes and sharing experiences.

Day 7: Estancia Mercedes - Chilean Patagonia

Country breakfast and transfer back to Puerto Natales.

  • Ground transfer from Puerto Natales to Estancia Mercedes round trip.
  • 2 nights of accommodations in the main house of the estancia.
  • Full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner, box lunch, water, juices, wines, and soft-drinks).
  • Full riding equipment. (Leggings, helmets, saddles, safetystirrups, and saddlebags).
  • Guide in English and Spanish with first aid courses.
  • First aid equipment and communications system in case of any emergency.
  • Camping tents and sleeping bags for low temperatures.
