Come and live this unique experience, where you have the opportunity to experience first -hand the activities and traditions that are carried out on anestancia (ranch) in Patagonia, such as the work of a gaucho (cowboy) with his sheepdogs herding a group of sheep and then see these being sheared.

This experience offers a combination of traditions along with outdoor activities like trekking and horseback riding to be able to behold and observe the flora and fauna of this wonderful place.

Itinerary

Day 1: Punta Arenas – Estancia (Ranch) Tercera Barranca

We will greet you at the Punta Arenas airport. We will provide a private ground transfer from Puerto Natales city to Estancia Tercera Barranca.

Days 2: Estancia (Ranch)

For recreational purposes and to take pictures we will take a ride in the old Land Rover of Estancia (4WD), to go see guanacos, rheas, and foxes without leaving out the adventures to be had on the paths of the live stock ranch. We will cross paths and hills looking for tracks, and we will visit the viewpoints of the condors. We will combine driving with some short stops at each point of scenic interest and / or photographic walks. (Duration: 1-3 hours).
We will stop for a while to take our box lunch and then we will return. In the afternoon we will visit the path of mineral water, a low intensity walk where visitors can drink mineral water directly from the natural slopes of the Patagonian countryside. (Duration: 2 hours).

Days 3: Estancia (Ranch)

Breakfast at the Estancia.
We will start our horse ride to Salto Las Chinas; this tour has medium difficulty through valleys and hills of the sector. We will depart from the Estancia to a similar route that was made by the first English tourist expedition of Lady Florence Dixie; we will visit the viewpoints of the Blue Lagoon and the waterfall of Rio “Las Chinas (The Chinese).” On a day trip on horseback we will cross the Estancia (ranch) following the riverbed of “Las Chinas” until arriving at the waterfall. In addition to the local flora and fauna, along the way we will see a nice view of the Blue Lagoon and we can observe Las Torres del Paine from different angles in its northeast to north faces. (Duration: 6 hours).Then we will take a while for our box lunch and return to the farm.

Days 4: Estancia (Ranch)

Breakfast at the Estancia.
We will have the chance to see samples of herding and shearing. This activity shows the typical work done at the ranch in Patagonia. We will also see the gauchos working with their sheepdogs, herding a group of sheep to the shed of the ranch to shear a few animals. Visitors can ask questions and experience first hand the work of a shepherd.
We will have lunch at the Estancia.
This free afternoon, visitors will have the chance to take a walk on their own. There are different paths where you can take short walks with prior authorization from the front desk.

Days 5: Estancia

Breakfast at the ranch.

We will take the transfer from the ranch to the airport in Punta Arenas.
